The whole focus of this program is to help you get more results by improving your time in the zone.
We spend so much time preparing to do the work or thinking about the work we’re going to do. This program is about actually tracking time invested as closely as we can to actual performance.
A lot of times, I go to the gym and I see people at the gym, but they’re on their phones. They’re there when I show up and still there when I go but I have world-class fitness, and I’m never in the gym longer than an hour because I go in, I do it and I’m out. My workouts are often just about 15 minutes, with a 10- to 15-minute warm-up. In half an hour, I’m in and I’m out.
This program is to help you do this for your life and business goals.
First, we have to do some preparation work. If you haven’t done that already or if you’ve done it already and you already know what you want, you can just move forward to the next part. But this module is going to be about laying the foundation, the groundwork, for where we want to go in one year, three years, or five years so that we can plan our weekly efforts to take us in those directions.
1. Plan & Organize
So first, we’re going to plan. If you don’t have that done, this module will be where we get this kind of planning done. However, the actual activity in sprint is four-part. This part is an extended planning part, just because it’s our first time to get oriented. As you do this, your planning can become shorter and shorter, and the goal is to spend more and more time actually executing and getting work done—digging towards your goals.
2. Share & Delegate
Second phase, we’re going to articulate the plans to team members and vendors that need to be informed. I’m going to give you some templates on how to do that: how to see that everyone that needs to be involved is involved, as well as the briefing time (the time that you get the resources that you need as well as giving them, so that you get the resources that you need and give the things that you need to the people that have them.)
3. EXECUTE! GO GO GO!
Third phase, we get into the execution. This is the magic moment. This is the critical piece of all of this where so many people struggle to actually execute. We’ll talk about the four places people get tripped up. You’ll have prompts so during your weeks while you’re sprinting, if you’re getting stuck, if you’re dealing with anything, we can talk you through how to minimize the delay, minimize the procrastination and keep moving forward.
So, just follow along and keep clicking the courses. Again, at the minimum, there’ll be two tracks: one is for people doing the minimum 15 minutes, and the second track is for people that are already a little more familiar with productivity, time-blocking and scheduling their days. The other part will be for advanced people doing more than just a 15-minute daily block.
4. Analyze Results
This is an iterative process. It’s not supposed to be perfect your first time. The idea is to establish the habit to build your discipline muscles up. This is about doing it once to get an idea of how it’s supposed to go, doing it a second time to hopefully do it more successfully the second time and then the third time to help ingrain it into your very muscle fibres for habits to make this kind of progress automatic for you.
In this phase you answer questions like:
What are 3 things you finished & discovered this week?
How could you have done better?
What problems or challenges are you dealing with?
If [problem/challenge] continues to happen or happens again, what do you need to do to overcome it on schedule or ahead of schedule?
What do you need to give, get, do or buy & share with people on your team?
What are the critical few things which need to be done better next week?
How many time bricks will you stack?
How will your workload feel based on this commitment?
Red, Yellow, Green?
Should you get more support or it is okay to try again this week with everything/everyone as is?
Together we will repeat this process three times.
